On his tour in Western Australia, His Excellency High Commissioner Somasundaram Skandakumar also visited the Perth Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple in Kenwick and The Balamurugan Hindu Temple in Anketell, assisted by Honorary Consul Mr. Rosh Jalagge, today, 4th of June, 2016.
He explored the significances of the two religious places which carry a remarkable importance to the Sri Lankan community residing in Western Australia.
The Perth Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara in Kenwick was established in 1988 to serve needs of the Sri Lankan Buddhist community in WA. This establishement is well-known for it's meditation and buddhist philosophy teaching programmes.
The Perth Balamurugan Hindu Temple was formed by Tamil Hindus from Sri Lanka, Malaysia, India and and Singapore, residing in WA. This too, serves as the leading Hindu temple for all devotees of Hinduism for religious and spiritual healing as well as cultural education.
