Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket captain Chamari Athapaththu was recently given a warm reception by the Consulate’s office in Perth on Wednesday 20th October.

Honorary Consul, Rosh Jalagge, hosted the event to recognize the Sri Lankan skipper’s arrival in Perth to play with the Perth Scorchers, ahead of the Australian Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The event was also attended by

The 31-year-old previously represented the Melbourne Renegades for two years. Chamari has enjoyed significant success in cricket globally being one of the most successful batters in the Women’s T20 challenge.

She has said that Perth is ‘like a second home’ to her, having family and friends living in Perth. Atapattu is Sri Lanka’s first female cricketer to play franchise league cricket.
